The Psychology of Colour

It always interests us when taking on design work to look into the meaning of colours and how they would reflect in our work. We found this chart of the Psychology of Color via pinterest and had to share its a great summary of how to select colours for your home or work.

House Tour - Four Walls and a Roof

It's been a while since we have been on a house tour. Here is the latest we found over the last few weeks via one of our favourite interior design blogs Desire to Inspire (find more blogs we love here)

This house tour is Lucy's mid century inspired renovation from Four Walls and a Roof, visit her blog for more details of this amazing transformation. We love the neutral colour pallet and the warmth of the wood pieces and flooring throughout the home.

We're Loving Pink

For our first inspiration boards of the year we couldn't go past pink, though we are not typically 'pink girls' we loved how elegant pastel pink can look when done right.

For weddings a soft pretty pastel pink with accents of gold really is a beautiful combination. The gold cutlery is an elegant addition to the table settings as is the gold trim around the wedding cake. The vintage suitcase is a great idea for collecting your wedding cards or wishing well donations on the day, you can even use the suitcase as a keepsake box for the cards and mementos of your special day.

Grey is one of our favourite colours to add an accent colour to (those who have followed our blog for a while will know we love grey & yellow!). Pastel pink is no exception, here are a few interior spaces using pastel pink that we loved. Mia needs the pink children's chair for her room, I wish Target US shipped to Australia! (Update, the chair is now out of stock online)

Small Office Spaces

With baby number 2 on the way I have to clear out my spare room which I was using for office space/storage and come up with a spot in my living/dinging room for a small desk for my laptop with a little storage space. So in searching for inspiration of course I have been scouring Pinterest so here a few pictures i've found to help give me ideas for what I could do in such a small space...

We're Loving Navy

Navy is becoming one of our new favourite colours. Our addiction to Pinterest lead us to find these great inspiration photos for navy colour themed weddings and interior decorating.

The combination of navy & white is a fresh contrast with pops of colour in the flowers and table settings just seem to work really well. Navy lends itself to all seasons, the photos below remind us of spring but you could easily use navy in a winter theme wedding with ivory flowers and snowflake motifs.

We love this Madeline chair (pic 1) from Urban Outfitters it would be perfect for a small reading nook. I would never have thought of navy in a nursery (pic 5) but it works really well with the contrast mint shelves and artwork to break up the dark wall. Picture 6 reminds me of the buffet cabinet and blue feature wall I have in my lounge room, though not as neatly organised!

What do you think of navy used in weddings and interiors, too dark? Or with the right lighting and contrasting accents you could pull it off?

House Tour - Old Meets New

This old house designed by Space Architecture and Planning in Chicago, Illinois has so much character. From the front the old exterior was reconditioned and restored to it's former glory.

We're Loving - Black & White

We are back with our inspiration boards for a black & white wedding and black & white interiors. Black & white is such a classic combination, it lends itself so well to a wedding theme or interior decorating. You can make it pop with a hit of colour or keep it elegant and simple in black & white.
