The Psychology of Colour

It always interests us when taking on design work to look into the meaning of colours and how they would reflect in our work. We found this chart of the Psychology of Color via pinterest and had to share its a great summary of how to select colours for your home or work.

House Tour - Four Walls and a Roof

It's been a while since we have been on a house tour. Here is the latest we found over the last few weeks via one of our favourite interior design blogs Desire to Inspire (find more blogs we love here)

This house tour is Lucy's mid century inspired renovation from Four Walls and a Roof, visit her blog for more details of this amazing transformation. We love the neutral colour pallet and the warmth of the wood pieces and flooring throughout the home.

Pretty Pink Wedding

After posting our pink 'Inspiration Boards' last week, we had to share this beautiful wedding we came across while looking for gorgeous pink wedding inspiration.

We loved how this wedding looked simply elegant yet casual without an obvious theme glaring at you, but how subtle everything tied together. From the different bridesmaid dresses (though still worked so lovely together) to the floral arrangement vases collected from goodwill and friends and family leading up to the big day.

This 'Well Wishes' tree is a great idea instead of a guest book. I had a similar idea at my wedding, I covered plain gift tags with coordinating paper to my theme and hung some from the tree and the rest on a table with a note instructing guests to leave a 'Well Wishes' message and then hang on the tree. I also had disposable cameras on each table and created an album with the photos and added each guests message tag to the photo. I love looking back over the special messages and looking at all the photos, though they were mostly taken by our younger brother and our page boys so the photos were interesting!

We're Loving Pink

For our first inspiration boards of the year we couldn't go past pink, though we are not typically 'pink girls' we loved how elegant pastel pink can look when done right.

For weddings a soft pretty pastel pink with accents of gold really is a beautiful combination. The gold cutlery is an elegant addition to the table settings as is the gold trim around the wedding cake. The vintage suitcase is a great idea for collecting your wedding cards or wishing well donations on the day, you can even use the suitcase as a keepsake box for the cards and mementos of your special day.

Grey is one of our favourite colours to add an accent colour to (those who have followed our blog for a while will know we love grey & yellow!). Pastel pink is no exception, here are a few interior spaces using pastel pink that we loved. Mia needs the pink children's chair for her room, I wish Target US shipped to Australia! (Update, the chair is now out of stock online)

2012 Pantone Colour of the Year

Pantone have selected their new colour of the year for 2012...Tangerine Tango.

Pantone

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”  Pantone.com

Delicious'n Easy Christmas Recipe

Here is a sneak peek of what you can expect from a new blog we are working on for a good friend coming in 2012 full of delicious recipes and tips.

Ingredients:
2 cups Self Raising Flour
2 Tablespoons Butter
1 Cup Milk
1 Jar Fruit Mince
Brown Sugar

Method:
  • Place butter and flour in a mixing bowl
  • Rub fingers through until texture like breadcrumbs
  • Add 1 cup of milk and mix with a knife
  • Spread into square with rolling pin on a floured surface
*TIP: The least time you handle the dough the fluffier it will be. Work quickly with cold hands and cold surface. If bench gets sticky apply more flour.
  • Spread fruit mince evenly
  • Roll up into a long log
  • Slice 1" thick to form a scroll
  • Place on tray lined with baking paper
  • Sprinkle with brown sugar
  • Place in oven at 180°c (fan forced) or 200 degrees°c (no fan) for 15 mins or until golden.
  • Serve sprinkled with icing sugar
*Note: Measurements are metric

Merry Christmas everyone and thank you for all your support this year. Next year we have lots in store, a new website, new designs, custom canvases and more!
